New generation artificial grass – the next step towards circular material use
As far as we’re concerned, it’s time for a new generation of artificial turf. Find out below how we’re further developing our materials and product solutions.
ECO artificial grass backing
Our innovative ECO backing offers an alternative to traditional backing solutions and is recognisable by its white colour.
The backing has been developed with recycling in mind. Used artificial grass with ECO backing can, via suitable recycling channels, be processed into new synthetic materials that can be reused in the production of artificial grass, depending on the available collection, sorting and recycling infrastructure.
Advantages:
- Designed to facilitate recycling and enable the material to be reused as a raw material.
- The weight and thickness of the material ensure a lightweight and flexible surface with excellent strength.
- Thanks to its lighter weight, cutting, transport and installation are simpler.
- A lower material weight can contribute to more efficient transport and reduced material consumption.
Several products in our range are already fitted with ECO backing. We are continuing to develop this technology and are investigating how we can expand its use across our product range.
Planting trees
We all know that natural elements such as trees and planting are essential to remove CO2 from the air. Together with GoForest, we want to plant 1 tree per day worked, with the aim of planting at least 450 trees over the next 2 years. Through funding both here in Belgium, and abroad, we can in this way support the projects below:
Reforestation in Belgium
Extreme drought, heat waves, large outbreaks of bark beetles and an increased number of forest fires are causing damage to our European forests. Thousands of hectares of forest are dying off here (in Belgium) and across Europe. Therefore, reforesting Belgium with the right trees in the right place could already be problem-solving.
Mangroves in Madagascar
More than 90% of Madagascar's forests have been destroyed. Through our collaboration, we hope to help restore them as much as possible. This project is mainly about removing as much CO² as possible. Research shows that mangroves can retain up to 4 times more carbon than rainforests and they also play an important role in the fight against climate change. This project will also provide stability against erosion and promote the health of the ocean and coral reefs. In addition, it will also have a positive impact on the local community.
In each case, when choosing these two projects, we also looked at how we can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. Thus, thanks to the project in Madagascar, we can also contribute to improving the living conditions of the local population and create jobs.

Sustainable business
Besides planting trees, we have also taken the step of no longer receiving or sending out paper. This will save us 1,500 trees in 1 year.
That figure is just the beginning, because even now this decision continues to pay off. Every invoice or working document that does not have to be printed is a small gesture to the environment.
Our factory and company buildings are also equipped with solar panels that provide us with a large part of the energy needed to make and cut artificial grass.
